Editors work with you “…to mine, chisel, and polish your best content into idea and information gems that people will remember…for the right reasons and not the wrong ones.” (Editors Canada)
If you’re not sure what kind of editing you need, I can help you decide.
Send me a few pages of your manuscript for an evaluation and estimate. All material that you provide will be held with absolute confidentiality.
For Canadian projects, I adhere to the Professional Editorial Standards (PES) which is the golden standard in the editing profession in Canada.
Editing Services

Structural Editing
- a careful review of the structure of your document to ensure the best layout of content and key concepts depending on your target audience and context.
I will identify repetitive material, odd paragraph transitions and missing information. You’ll have a manuscript that is well organized and flows easily to capture your readers’ attention.

Stylistic Editing
- line-by-line editing, refining certain phrases that readers might not understand, making sure the reading level is appropriate for the intended audience, and getting rid of repetitive or redundant words.
I will help clarify meaning by recommending a variety of alternatives that are equally wonderful.

Copy Editing
- a detailed check for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency of facts and ideas. I will find what spellcheck doesn’t catch.(e.g. Let’s eat Grandma! vs. Let’s eat, Grandma!)
I will create a style sheet if one is not provided which will be helpful with your current project as well as future ones.

Proofreading
- the last stage of review when a document is in its final format. Everything is checked and double-checked with the utmost accuracy.
Any errors or inconsistencies will be flagged and fixed (e.g. font, layout, visuals) including missing words and typographical mishaps (e.g. dashes, quotation marks, transposed letters).
